Elegant
Contrasts Garden Tour
The Berry Botanic Garden is sponsoring Elegant Contrasts,
a tour of four private gardens in the Riverdale-Dunthorpe neighborhood.
The four unique southwest Portland gardens demonstrate elegant
contrasts between traditional and more modern, and quite large
and more intimate spaces:
varied two acres with vegetable beds, terraces, magnolia
walks, plus an elegant, well-established Japanese garden, designed
by noted landscape architect Craig Keist;
bold, modern garden with integrated sculpture and water
features, and a lovely perennial border scheme;
elegant garden that demonstrates how to make the most
of a difficult space and includes a lovely entrance and formal
pool area ;
English cottage flair with rounded beds and established
rhododendrons. Originally designed by the Grants of Seattle,
who were prominent in the 40s and 50s.
Lemonade, iced tea and sweets will be available at each location.
(Tour is held rain or shine; no refunds after Friday, July 14).
