Papermaking with Plants
Artist, author and instructor Helen Hiebert has spent more than 10 creative years in Portland, exploring paper and the two- and three-dimensional art it can become. In this hands-on introductory workshop, we'll process common plant materials, from the surprising to the mundane, cooking and beating them to prepare pulp for papermaking. Each participant will learn eastern and western sheetforming techniques and will make several sheets of paper. Find out for yourself the many fascinating fibers behind something so taken for granted! Materials are included in the price.
