The
garden is a lovely place to visit throughout the year.
The following photos represent a simple tour, through several
seasons!
1. House
We begin our tour here in front of Rae Selling Berry's house.
Built in 1939, the house is the location of our offices, conservation
laboratory, library, classroom, information center, and gift
shop. In 2002, it was officially nominated to the National
Register of Historic Places.

2. Primroses
We care for the garden of Rae Selling Berry. She was known
around the world for her ability to grow plants from seed.
Here primroses, some of her favorites, line a seasonal stream
in a profusion of color.

3. Front lawn
A plantswoman of vision, Rae Selling Berry planted the main
lawn with trees and shrubs that provide interest throughout
the year.

4. Dawn redwood
In this collector's garden, you'll find plants from around
the world that were grown from seed and are now large trees.

5. Rock Garden
The largest public rock garden on the West Coast is a super
place to see alpine plants from around the world without traveling
to far places and climbing huge mountains.

6. Troughs
Regional natives and alpines from around the world grow side
by side in our trough garden.

7. The Garden of Rare Beauty
Here Pacific Northwest rare and endangered plants are gathered
for visitor education and enjoyment. Visitors can learn about
our contributions to plant conservation locally, nationally
and abroad.

8. Native Plant Trail
A stroll along this trail introduces gardeners to our approach
to gardening for wildlife using native plants.

9. Rhododendron Forest
A plantswoman of vision, Rae Selling Berry planted these seeds
knowing that there was a good chance she would never see the
mature rhododendrons come into bloom.

10. Classroom
Our educational opportunities reflect the Garden's unique
nature and staff expertise, celebrating the value of plants
in our lives. A variety of group tours and small, hands-on
classes enable participants to pursue their interests and
learn in a variety of environments.
